Moab Adventure Hotel LLC is opening Field Station Moab as a redevelopment of the former Super 8 motel at 889 North Main Street. The Super 8 hotel had 146 rooms. Six of them will be removed and six parking spaces for vans will be added as overnight rentals.

The property’s site plan filed with the Moab City Planning and Zoning Department in December of 2021 shows 140 hotel rooms, but a Jam Collective’s spokesperson said Field Station Moab will have 139 rooms and the six outside parking spaces for overnight van parking for a total of 145 rooms.

As of Nov. 8, Field Station Moab’s website listed rooms becoming available in May at the price of $900 a night for a king or double queen room. However, a spokesperson said rates will start at $159 a night.

Jam Collective said in an email the inspiration for Field Station Moab comes from the AutoCamp Hospitality Group founded by Neil Dipaola.

“The success of AutoCamp inspired us to create Field Station to make it even easier for everyone to get outside, more often,” said Dipaola in the email from Jam Collective. “We believe the world would be a better place if more people could experience the outdoors, so we’re on a mission to empower all people to get outside with greater comfort, ease, knowledge and support.”

The design is intended to blend camping elements together with the amenities of a boutique hotel. Those who stay overnight in vans will have access to Wi-Fi, hookups, bathrooms and showers. Amenities include a pool, espresso bar, cafe, bicycle repair and a dog wash area. Onsite guides and equipment rentals with a small gear shop and bike valet will be integrated into the guest services offered at Field Station Moab.

The site plan shows the renovated pool area will include a movie screen and posts for a slackline across the pool and surrounding gas fire pits with lava stone.

Jam Collective said about 25 people are employed in the property’s redevelopment. The contractor on the site plan filed with the city is based in Vista, California and the interior designer is based in Naples, Florida.

Stay tuned for more: Jam Collective said outdoor classes will be offered and in the evening the hotel will serve as a “community outpost for education, both for the local community and its guests.”
