Applications open for county board positions

Submissions reviewed on a rolling basis; final deadline is Dec. 31


Opportunities to serve on 11 Grand County boards, commissions and committees and five special service district boards are now open to candidates. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the end of the year.

Melissa Stocks, assistant marketing director for the Grand County Economic Development Department, said “assuming volunteer roles offers individuals a valuable opportunity to contribute to the betterment of the community.

“Our citizens possess a wealth of experience and personal knowledge that they can impart in advisory capacities,” she said. “The Grand County Commission benefits significantly from the valuable feedback and information received through these essential boards and committees.”

Applicants must live in Grand County to be considered. Some positions may require specific expertise and term lengths vary. District board members cannot be an employee of the district.

County board, commissions or committees with openings include the Economic Development Advisory Board, Travel Council Advisory Board, Public Health Board, Council on Aging, Airport Board, Historical Preservation Committee, Planning Commission, Weed Control Board, Library Board, Sand Flats Stewardship Committee and the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.

Five special service district boards have vacancies, including the Grand County Water Conservancy District, Moab Mosquito Abatement District, Recreation Special Service District, Transportation Special Service District and Solid Waste Special Service District.
