The festival’s 2010 theme will be comedy, but festival organizers said all submissions are encouraged and will be accepted.
“This film festival’s purpose is to give local and surrounding community members an opportunity to show their work, as well as network with other film workers,” said Tara Penner, director of the Moab to Monument Valley Film Commission.
To qualify for the festival, submissions may only be entered once, and must have been created and/or edited within the past year. All submissions are required to have a tie to the local Moab or southeastern Utah community, including cities and towns in Grand, San Juan, and Carbon Counties. That means that the film must be “made in the area, made about the area, or made by a local to the area,” according to a film festival news release.
Awards will be given in several different categories throughout the festival and award categories are dependent upon the films submitted, organizers said.
Filmmakers are encouraged to submit both full-length films and short films, and because the festival will include one full evening dedicated to the work of student filmmakers, students are also encouraged to submit films, according to the news release.
