Library sponsors Halloween activities

    The Grand County Public Library will be hosting Halloween activities in the children's department beginning Oct. 20.

    The activities include a Castle Valley Gourd Festival storytelling

event  on Oct. 20, from 11 a.m. - noon; Pumpkin Chuckin' Festival

stories will be presented Oct. 27 along with a  puppet show that will

be held every hour from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

    On Oct. 29, the library presents the UEA film festival featuring

films for all ages based on a surfer dude in a tux. The event begins at

1 p.m. and continues with a "museum adventure" at 3 p.m.

    On Oct. 30, the library will host local magician Rick Boretti,

performing psychic surgery beginning at 6 p.m. The program is geared

for "tween"-aged children and adults. The library will also be taking

requests for teen films on Oct. 30.

    Also this month, the library will present a poetry reading by Maria

Melendez, 2007 Moab Arts Council poetry writing contest winner, at

Grand County High School on Oct. 26, from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.
