Man arrested for assault

Police arrested a Moab man Oct. 28 after receiving a report of a domestic dispute on Kane Creek Blvd. Officers arrived at the scene to find a woman with a bloody nose crying and telling a man he was going to go to jail, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department.

Three children were present in the home during the altercation, according to the report.

The man was arrested and booked into Grand County Jail on charges of assault.

Man arrested for intoxication

A Utah man was arrested Oct. 31 for intoxication after a Moab City Police officer spotted the man stumbling around in an empty parking lot on 100 West.

The officer talked to the man and noted that his speech was slurred and he was having trouble standing up, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department. The man told police he was trying to walk to a family member’s home on Walnut Lane, but was too intoxicated to walk, according to the report.



Police investigating spate of graffiti

Moab City Police officers are investigating four separate incidents of vandalism after several area businesses reported finding graffiti painted on signs, sidewalks and other structures.

On Oct. 29, police were called to a business on 100 West after the building owner noticed graffiti painted on the front wall and a nearby sign. Damage was estimated at $100, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department.

The same day, police received a report of a marble monument at the Hospice memorial garden being spray-painted with graffiti. A local restaurant manager also reported graffiti painted on a shed and wall at the business, according to separate reports.

On Nov. 4, the manager of an apartment complex on Kane Creek Blvd. reported that graffiti was painted on a sign and lights had been removed from the sign, according to a police report. In that case, the graffiti appeared to be a marijuana leaf, according to the report. Damage was estimated at $200.

Police are searching for leads in all four cases.

Stolen bicycle recovered

Moab City Police investigated the theft of a bicycle Nov. 1 from a home on 100 East. The owner of the bike told officers that the Bianchi Milano, valued at $600, was taken from the porch of the home, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department.

Later that day, the bicycle was located parked in a bike rack at a downtown restaurant, according to the report. After verifying the bicycle’s serial number, the bike was released to the owner.

Three injured in I-70 crash

Three Grand Junction, Colo. men were injured Nov. 3 when the pickup truck in which they were traveling drifted off the left side of the eastbound lane of I-70, then rolled. The accident occurred at about 6 a.m. at milepost 216.

According to a report from the Utah Highway Patrol, the driver overcorrected to the right causing the vehicle to travel off the right side of the road.

The truck rolled over, went through a fence, and came to rest on old Highway 6 and 50. Alcohol use is suspected and the incident is being investigated, according to the report.

Two of the occupants were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction with injuries. A second passenger in the vehicle suffered only minor injuries, according to the UHP report.

 

Moab man arrested for DUI

A 34-year-old Moab man was arrested Nov. 7 for driving under the influence after a Utah Highway Patrol trooper pulled over the Chevy pickup truck the man was driving for an equipment violation.

The man was booked into the Grand County Jail on charges of DUI, according to a report from the UHP.
