The Grand County Education Foundation sponsors the event each year as a fundraiser to help the foundation’s continued support for wide variety of programs in the Grand County school system.
During the Adult Spelling Bee, three-person teams compete with other teams to determine the correct spelling of a word. Each team has a scribe who writes the spelling of the word on a whiteboard and shows it to the judges and the audience.
Rounds progress through different levels of difficulty until two teams remain for the final spell-off. Prizes are awarded for the winning team of spellers and also for the team having the best costumes.
Spectators and participants are also eligible to win a variety of donated door prizes.
Admission to the event is $10 for adults and $5 for students. The admission fee also includes free appetizers. Beverages will be available for purchase at the Bar M.
