The “compassion” comment made by Moab City Engineer Rebecca Andrus in the June 26, 2014 edition of The Times-Independent article, “San Miguel property owners seek mediation of ongoing trail dispute,” seemed way off the mark. I did not feel compassion. Instead, I felt threatened, intimidated and on the wrong end of underhanded tactics.
The county is once again trying to take my property to install an unwanted bike path across my property that I have owned for 46 years. My ownership of that land has been uncontested until 2009.
In 2009, a path was directed across my property without any prior notification or authorization from us and while we were out of town attending a family member’s funeral.
This attempt to take my land has continued since then. The stress and hardship of these past five years took a toll on my husband and continues to take a toll on me. In my opinion, the location of this trail is unnecessary and unwanted by the majority of property owners on my street.
I ask all Grand County residents and property owners to stand up for our property rights.
