In 1937, I started the ride of a lifetime. I was born in Billings, Mont., to George C. “Bud” and Lola Russell of Ballentine, Mont., on Feb. 27, 1937. I spent the war years in Renton, Wash., where Mom worked for Boeing Aviation while Dad served in the Navy as a Sea Bee. Thanks to Mom I was able to see the first B-29 Super Fortress lift off the runway on Sept. 21, 1942.

My school years started in Renton, moved to Hardin, Mont., and finished in Marine Boot camp at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Fifty-some odd years ago my semi truck broke down and stranded me in Moab. From there, I found work in drilling shot holes, oil field construction and driving trucks. I then went to work at Texas Gulf salt plant, retiring after 34-plus years.

In the middle of my working years I met and married Linda Gayle Tucker. We had two fine children, Bryan C. and Kristie Lee.

Later on, I married Billie, and although we divorced, I never stopped loving her.

I enjoyed taking my kids fishing on Boulder Mountain, gathering firewood and riding dirt bikes. My greatest pastime was barbequing for my friends and family, while having my famous margaritas on the patio. No matter what- Life has been good and I had a really, really good ride.

I ended that ride on May 22, 2014 to go to my Margaritaville in the sky.
