This is personal.

This is written for you alone. For the time it takes you to read this, put aside all thoughts of what is going on outside of you and consider only what is within.

Forget politics, forget religion, forget about class war, gender war or any other war. Forget about how unfair life is. Forget about the lies you have been told.

For just this little bit of time put aside the futility of human history, how civilizations rise and fall but in the end the world is still in a mess. Forget about the “isms” that are supposed to solve our problems but never do, be they capitalism, socialism, atheism, humanism or any other “ism”.

Remember, this is personal. It is about you alone.

Forget about the pride and pettiness that lead to despair in your relationships with others. Forget the blame game; that is blaming others for your situation. Let it all go.

This is personal. It is about you alone.

When you finish reading this close your eyes, think and be aware that millions of people walk around every day eyes wide open but are still trapped in the darkness.

Now, think, think about your place in the universe. In a physical sense you are a mere speck of sand in time and space – dust.

With your eyes closed, think about your life. Have you ever lied to yourself or anyone else? Have you ever taken advantage of another? Have you ever been abused by another? Have you ever felt trapped? Have you been trapped by greed, lust, jealousy, addiction, pride, selfishness, denial or stubbornness? Have you ever felt cheated in love to the point where love is just another four-letter word?

Now it is time to be honest with yourself. You know there are many things you have done that were wrong, things you regret.

You know regardless of the many happy times life often seems incomplete. You know in your heart, in your soul that there must be something more to existence. There must be more to life than physical pleasure and pain. There must be and you know it.

Now listen, listen with your mind, heart and soul. Listen, just give it a little time. Do you hear it? Hmm... nothing.

Try to be a little more honest, open your heart. Now, reflect for a moment. Can you recognize the pain you feel? The pain you have caused others? At this moment, when you are totally alone, your inner voice may say: “Dear God, what have I done? What must I do? How can I make up for the wrongs I have done to myself and others? Right now, I am at a loss and so alone.”

The next voice you hear will be the voice of God answering you. The first thing God will say to you is, “I love you. Open your eyes, come out of the darkness. I offer you hope, joy, love and a peace that passes all understanding. I have loved you since before you were born. I will be with you always even until the end of the world. Nothing in the heavens or on earth can separate My love from you. Hear My voice and follow Me. Through Me you will overcome all obstacles in this life; I will be your strength. Love Me as I have loved you. It is for you I suffered and died.”

Open your eyes and heart and believe that. Christ the Lord has risen today, Alleluia! Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia! Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia! Sing ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!

Happy Easter.
