The Moab Recreation and Aquatic Center will be offering a variety of different membership options under a new fee structure approved by the Moab City Council on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

The new passes will include a three-month or six-month membership option, as well as an option for membership to the fitness center only. Previously, members were required to purchase a pass that included membership to both the pool and the fitness center.

Adults interested in a fitness center-only pass would pay $155 per year, the same amount the center currently charges for a pool-only pass. For a six-month pass covering either the pool or the fitness center, an adult member will pay $100, instead of the $155 for the full year.

“We’re delighted that we’re able to offer these new membership options,” Terry Lewis, director of the aquatic center said. “We’ve had a lot of inquiry about them over the years.”

Lewis said that many of the center’s patrons might only be in town for a few months around the spring and summer.

“They may be here for four, five or six months,” she said. However, the center only offered monthly or yearly passes with no in-between options.

The option for access to the fitness center only has also been the topic of several requests, she said.

“We’ve received a tremendous number of inquiries about the fitness only option,” Lewis said.

Lewis said the new membership choices may also help increase revenue for the MRAC.

“That should help take some of the onus off the taxpayer,” Lewis said. “It’s a win-win situation all the way.”

Lewis said the complete fee schedule will be available Oct.1, along with the new pool and class schedules.

“That’s when we close the outdoor pools,” she said. “So we’ll start fresh.”
