The proposed zone change was recently turned down by the Grand County Planning Commission. Three times previously, a proposal for a zone change not only was turned down by the planning commission but the county council also.
It’s simply a bad idea.
But the developer won’t let the matter drop and now for the fourth time is asking the county council to overrule the planning commission.
The proposed zone change does not comply with the requirements of the county planning department. The proposal is inconsistent with the 2012 Grand County General Plan.
To repeat, it’s simply a bad idea.
To not comply with county rules and regulations would set a dangerous precedent for all neighborhoods throughout the county. This matter affects all Grand County residents. Do our neighborhoods belong to us or the developers?
Concerned citizens are urged to contact council members and attend the Grand County Council meeting next Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 4 p.m. at the Grand County Council chambers, 125 E. Center.
