Public lands discussion...
An upcoming congressional open house will focus on our local public lands. Congressman Jason Chaffetz, along with Congressman Rob Bishop, the chairman of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Public Lands and Environmental Regulation, are coming to southern Utah next month to host a number of open house meetings. The topic will be the public lands bill that Bishop is in the process of writing for southern Utah, which could have permanent implications for recreational access, conservation, land trades, and resource extraction in Grand County and other counties in southeastern Utah.
If you care about the public lands and how various uses and land designations might affect our local economy and quality of life, come to the Moab meeting to hear their proposal and make your opinions known.
This open house will be held on Aug. 9 at 7:30 p.m., at the Grand Center in Moab. Additional meetings will be held in San Juan and Emery counties.
