Rotary’s purpose is to raise funds and volunteer labor to eradicate polio and other diseases from planet earth. Rotary members worldwide have raised hundreds of millions of dollars toward that effort, paying for clean water systems in underdeveloped countries, doctors, immunizations, shelters, agricultural techniques and assistance to the needy worldwide.
The object of Rotary, is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to foster international goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons. Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self” and that pretty much summarizes what Rotary is all about.
I very much recommend visiting Rotay’s website – www.rotary.org – for those interested in learning more about Rotary and all the humanitarian projects they are involved in.
