Kamron Call, a senior, was named to the Utah High School Activities Association’s Academic All-State team. Call, the son of Russell and Kimberly Call, was honored along with nine other 2A Academic All-State team members at a halftime ceremony during the championship game of the 2A state tournament held at the end of February in Cedar City.
According to the UHSAA, the combined grade point average for the 10 young men on the Academic All-State team was 3.997 out of 4.0.
In addition, Dale Thomas, also a GCHS senior, was recently named to the Region 15 all-star team. Thomas, the son of Geoff and Teri Thomas, was the only player from Grand County High to make the roster of the 11-man all-region team.
For the GCHS Lady Devils, senior point guard Torrie Lopez was named to the Region 15 all-star team. Lopez joined the region’s MVP, Megan Bean of the 2A state champion Richfield Lady Wildcats, and nine other girls from other teams in Region 15 on the all-region squad. Lopez is the daughter of Rick and Pam Lopez.
