Moab’s mountain bike shuttle services need to be held legally and financially responsible for the damage done already. It is a horror what the worst of us are doing in the La Sals. The outrage over the destruction of the very source of the food we should be eating and the water we should be drinking needs to be strongly stated when mountain bikers who actually understand we are on lands stolen from the Ute will put greed above preservation so boldly.
We need REAL sustainability, not more visitors, and we need restrictions and fines on the bad players.
People need to understand the La Sals are our children’s survival, and that survival as a community is not about having weapons or enough money to burn. It’s about food, air, water and shelter.
Only we can provide understanding, and it appears we are doing a very bad job of it.
