Ms. Fedele intimated that Kevin had not investigated before speaking and that pork had been added onto the bill. It appears to me that Ms. Fedele’s idea of investigation of facts goes no further than watching Fox News. However, Kevin’s investigation went much further than that.
He understood that the real pork portions of the Senate bill were not earmarked to benefit just the Democratic states of New York and New Jersey, but to provide billions for the storm events that occurred in 2012 along the Gulf and Atlantic Coasts, which affected the states of Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana.
The pork inserted into this bill was necessary to avoid the currently favored obstructionist tactic of Senate Republicans to make this a filibuster-proof piece of legislation in order to bring those red state Congressional delegations on board for Sandy relief.
The nay votes of Rep. Chaffetz and his 66 Republican colleagues against Sandy relief had nothing to do with protecting our tax dollars. It was nothing more than a callous attempt by these House Republicans to gain political advantage at the expense of fellow Americans in dire straits.
