Red Devil boys and girls spring sports seasons start in March

In addition to track, Grand County High School’s other spring sports teams have also started practicing, and each is scheduled to begin playing soon.

The Red Devil boys soccer team, is scheduled to travel to St. George to play in a non-region tournament this weekend. They’ll face Desert Hills High School at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1, and Delta High School at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 2. Grand’s first region soccer contest of the season will be a home match against South Sevier High on Tuesday, March 5. The varsity game is slated to begin at 4 p.m.

In addition, the Red Devil baseball team will open its season by hosting a weekend invitational round-robin tournament March 8 and 9. Besides Grand, the other three teams scheduled to participate are American Leadership Academy, Millard High, and Rangely, Colo. Game times are 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. both days, according to the schedule.

The Lady Devils softball team is scheduled to open its season with a game against Carbon at Moab at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6. They are also scheduled to host the Cyprus Pirates from Magna, Utah on Friday, March 8 at 3 p.m. and Saturday, March 9 at 11 a.m.

Grand’s boys tennis team will begin its season with a weekend trip to St. George for a varsity tournament on March 15 and 16. The boys will play their first home match on April 11 when they host Gunnison and Manti in a three-way divisional contest.

The GCHS girls golf team is scheduled to play its first match of the year on March 26 at Richfield. The Lady Devils will then host a region match on April 3 at the Moab Golf Club, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Moab is also scheduled to host the Region 15 tournament on May 7.
