The St. Mary’s Hospital annual blood drive is coming to Moab on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at GCHS, 608 South 400 East.
The GCHS student government is asking all eligible community members to donate. Any community member or student 16 years of age or older can donate. Minors must have parental permission.
Walk-in donations are welcome, although, according to student government advisor Maralee Francis, participants are encouraged to sign up ahead of time. Sign-ups are run through Grand County High School. To sign up, call the GCHS front office at 435-259-8931.
The GCHS student government is also sponsoring a “Pennies for Patients” fundraiser beginning Feb. 15. Students are asked to contribute spare change toward the effort. All money collected will be donated to leukemia research. In addition, according to Francis, the students are inviting Moab businesses to also donate to the cause. Any business that donates will be recognized on a donors’ wall at the high school.
“We’d like everyone to start saving their change, and to keep their eyes open for our students when they go out and try to meet our donation goal,” Francis said. “Together I think our community can make a big difference.”
