Neldon was born in Joseph City, Ariz., on June 3, 1932, the oldest son of Glen and Verle Holt. He graduated from Holbrook High School in 1945, then served honorably in the United States Army. He married his high school sweetheart, Elinor Joline Mclaws, on June 15, 1954. She later died of cancer. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary earlier that same summer. Neldon later married Roberta Garlett, on February 26, 2005. She has been by his side during many long and difficult nights.
He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully in many callings. He had a tremendous love for singing and participated in numerous community plays and choral events.
Neldon made his home in Blanding, where he worked and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He will be best remembered, however, for the love and service he gave his wife and children – instilling in them the virtues of honorable work ethics and devotion to both God and country.
His interests were camping, hunting, farming, outings and other activities with the family. He took great pleasure in horseback riding.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta (Bobbie) Garlett Holt; sons, Gregory Evert (Michelle), Bryan Scott (Trudi) and Thayne Wallace (Stephanie); and daughters, Terri Lynn Hunter (Kim) and Kendra Ann Moss (Ken). Neldon and Joline had 19 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elinor Joline; his parents; a sister, Doris; and a grandson, Bryce Moss.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, at noon at the Blanding North Stake Center. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on the evening of Feb. 8, at the San Juan Mortuary, 370 S. Main St., Blanding, Utah. Friends and family may call at San Juan Mortuary prior to the service. Interment will be at San Juan Memorial Park immediately after the funeral service.
