Yes, that is what the canyon was called before it was changed some years ago. And more importantly, that is what he was called. That is called legacy.
When the canyon is renamed, that part of Moab’s legacy will be lost forever. I can’t tell you what Bill would say, but I am sure he would laugh at you. Do these people know they live in a town once called Spanish Valley? Renamed by the Congress of the United States to “Moab.” It was taken from the Bible. Moab is “the land of thiefs.”
So I ask, what is stopping the bleeding hearts and the religious nut jobs from renaming Moab? Or the sports teams? And when they get the millions of acres added to the Canyonlands and Moab loses the money, I sure hope they like living in a ghost town.
