In big cities they have laws that say that the snow in front of your house must be removed in 24 hours after storm ends. Does Moab have such a law or not? Most cities that get snow have laws about off-street parking during the snow season. Salt Lake City requires 1.5 parking spaces per house or apartment – there is no on-street parking from Nov. 15 to March 15.
I also notice that businesses that are closed for the season don’t have their sidewalks clear. The city of Moab should be responsible for making sure that the sidewalks in the downtown area are clear (slip-and-fall injuries on the sidewalks that aren’t clear can be costly).
The snowstorm also alerts police to cars parked more than three days and they can be identified so they can be ticketed. Moab could make a lot of money that way.
If you know of people who are old or handicapped you could and should clean their sidewalk for them. In SLC, I did a whole block because most of the people were old and it gave me something to do. I had a large snow blower. Nobody paid me or thanked me but it had to be done and I was the one to do it.
So think of others around you and help them just because you can!
