Cal was born to the late Biram and Daisy Burton on Nov. 4, 1934, in Lowndesville, S.C. Cal married the late Barbara (Fetters) Burton, of Moab, in 1983. Both were members of the Community Church of Moab.
Known as “Whistling Cal,” he was a professional house painter for nearly 40 years, until his retirement. He had a great passion for electronics and videography – something he greatly enjoyed sharing with others.
Cal lived the good life, having been both a carnie with the circus and a movie stunt man in his younger years – he enjoyed entertaining people. In his later years he took to writing short stories, and sharing them with his friends and family, both in person and online.
Cal is survived by his children: Joyce Bivens, of Bakersfield Calif., Ray Fetters Jr., and Jan Radcliff, of Moab. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sara Fetters, Melissa Patrick, Valarie Patrick, and Crystal Radcliff, all of Moab; as well as Mike Bivens and Bobbie Straw of Bakersfield. He has nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Community Church of Moab, located at 544 MiVida Drive.
