We have been reflecting lately on the many blessings we receive each year. From you, our readers, our business associates, our neighbors and our friends.
For more than 100 years, local folks have embraced The Times-Independent as the community’s newspaper of record. And more than that, you have considered it your newspaper. For that, and so much more, we are thankful to all of you.
We are thankful for the people who are willing to share their stories with us every week. A community newspaper is, after all, for and about the people, and those personal stories bring all of us a little closer to one another.
We are thankful for a community that keeps us informed about issues and concerns of which we may not always be immediately aware. No community newspaper succeeds without input from the public. So we are ever thankful to all of you who take the time to stay in touch.
We are thankful for all of you who take time to express your opinions by writing letters, guest commentaries and even private notes regarding matters that are important to you. We provide these public forums as a service to all members of our community, and we appreciate that so many people here are so very dedicated to making this the best possible place in which to live.
We are thankful to everyone in the community who, over these many years, has supported truly local businesses – those enterprises, like The Times-Independent, that put local people to work, pay local taxes, infuse cash in the local economy and give so much every year to local kids and organizations that help others. Without your support, all those businesses, this newspaper included, would find themselves struggling to keep their doors open and keep local residents employed, especially during hard economic times.
Finally, we are thankful for this widely diverse community that embraces people from all walks of life, of all beliefs, political positions, and personal passions, regardless of whether we all agree. Moab truly is a melting pot of ideas and personalities, and each and every person who lives here contributes something of great value to the overall community.
As you gather together for that big meal tomorrow, we hope all of you will also reflect on the people who make your lives a little better, too – through their love, guidance and kindness each and every day.
