Friday evening, at 5:30 p.m., Mayor Dave will throw the switch and light our Community Tree. This year, the event will be held in Swanny City Park’s southeast corner by the big rock. Students from our elementary schools will be able to hang their ornaments on the tree earlier that day. Valley Voices will lead the community in caroling, the GCHS band and choir will also perform and jolly old St. Nick himself will be on hand to hear holiday wishes. Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided. Our Chamber is pleased to provide this wonderful event for our Moab area.
The month of November is a busy month for the Chamber. We reinstated the “mixer” earlier this year and held our last “mixer” for 2012 on Tuesday at the Hampton Inn. On Nov. 17 our banquet will be held at Red Cliffs Lodge, where we will announce our Citizen of the Year and also our Business of the Year. They will serve as the Grand Marshals for our parade on Saturday, Dec. 1.
Our Chamber is funded through our membership dues. We feel a Chamber is only as strong as its membership and we appreciate those businesses who support our Chamber. Those membership dues fund this wonderful event, as well as our Fourth of July festival. More importantly, membership supports many opportunities for networking and visibility for our members.
If you haven’t yet done so, consider joining our Moab Area Chamber of Commerce and be part of building a strong, viable community!
