Eva was born Feb. 18, 1936 in Price, Utah, to Hyrum and Ada (Noyes) Olsen. She grew up in Price, graduating from Carbon High School. She married Nicholas Chavez on Dec. 4, 1955 and they were later sealed in the Manti Temple on Aug. 19, 1965.
Eva was an active member of the LDS church, where she served in many callings, including Relief Society President, Young Women’s President, Stake Missionary, and Primary Teacher. She loved serving the church.
One of Eva’s favorite times in her life was when she and her sweetheart square danced and traveled all around the country at square dance conventions.
Eva is survived by her husband, Nick, of Moab; daughter, Sandy (Eddie) Lopez, of Moab; two sons, Nick Jr. (Twila) of Farmington, N.M., and Greg (Shauna) of Rifle, Colo.; two sisters, Margie (Terry) Byrge, and Iola Rutherford, both of Price; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; one sister; a son, Michael; and a granddaughter, Jaime Lopez Guynn.
Grandma loved her family with all her heart and loved following her grandkids around in whatever they were participating in. She will always be in our hearts!
