Every summer the Youth Garden Project puts on a garden-themed play at historic Star Hall in just one week. Camp participants learn about theatre arts, memorize lines, design and make set pieces, and work on costumes, then present a performance at the end of the week.
“Exposing youth to performing arts and all of the different components that make a production give campers experiences many have never had before ... “ said Kaitlin Harris, YGP program manager. “The experience of putting on a production in one week builds confidence in campers and gives them a real sense of accomplishment. The Youth Garden Project is so grateful for the donation from ‘Almost, Maine’ and to Chaz and Stoke for thinking of us in the first place.”
YGP’s summer production is open to the public and the community is encouraged to attend. This year’s play will take place on Friday, July 11. Details on the performance will be available this summer.
