Mike was born May 14, 1962 in Moab, Utah, to Bill and Sandi Roedel.
Mike loved his family very much. He was so proud of his five sons.
Mike loved the outdoors, sports, hunting, fishing, long drives in the mountains, cooking on a grill – always using his secret sauce.
Mike was a miner most of his life and knew the mining industry inside and out. Mike was crushed in a mine accident while living in Arizona. They said he would never walk again, but he proved them wrong. He was also one of the best heavy equipment operators around. He knew his crafts and loved doing them.
Mike’s knowledge was without saying. He credited his dad with his knowledge. There wasn’t anything Mike couldn’t do – from mechanics to welding. He said give him duct tape and he could fix anything.
Mike married Caye Grant in Moab, and to this union five sons were born. Mike and Caye later divorced. Mike moved to Arizona, where he stayed for about 18 years. He returned to Moab, where he met and dated Jacque Woodard off and on for 10 years. They finally married May 25, 2013. He said, “I finally married my best friend.” They were not without problems, but continued to love one another and still had a special bond. Mike said, “We can’t live with each other nor without each other.”
Mike leaves behind many who loved him and will truly miss his big heart, his smile, his infectious laugh and his deep loud voice. You definitely knew when he entered a room – “Hello, I’m Mike Roedel.”
Mike is survived by his wife, Jacque, Moab; his parents, Sandi Roedel, Moab, Bill (Debbie) Roedel, Golden Valley, Ariz.; his five sons, Devin (Felicia), Cedar Ridge, Colo., Mike, King Fisher, Okla., Randy (Elicia), King Fisher, Okla., Billy (Randi), Reno, Nev., and Camrin (Sara), King Fisher, Okla.
