She was born April 29, 1951 in Lynwood, Calif., to Mary Jean and George Dunkley. She graduated from Owens Valley High School in Independence, Calif. She moved to Utah to attend school at Brigham Young University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree. She then came to Moab to teach home economics and there met Joseph “K” Holyoak, who she married on July 11, 1974 in the Provo, Utah LDS temple.
Marion was active in the community through teaching high school and serving on the school board. She owned and operated a fabric store and spent nearly 15 years as a 4-H coordinator for the Utah State University Extension Agency in Grand County.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a deep faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. Through the church she was able to influence and teach children and the young women.
Marion loved music, sewing, quilting, crafting, tole painting, gardening, serving others and spending time on the mountain. Most of all, she loved being with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Marion is survived by her five sisters: Susan Mills, Daryl Fahrnkopf, Lori Brown, LuAnn Johnson and Valerie Bergner. She is also survived by her husband, Joseph “K” Holyoak; five children, along with their spouses: Nathan and Tonya Holyoak, Stacy and Jeremy Mallory, Tori and Adam Scow, Megan and Andrew Alton and Lindsay and Carson Dalton; and eight grandchildren: Crystal, Kayla and Kendra Holyoak, Parker and Payton Mallory, Cheznie Scow, Alexander Alton, and Kynlee Dalton.
Funeral services were held Aug. 18 at the Moab LDS Stake Center. Interment was at the Grand Valley Cemetery.
