The Grand County High School girl’s soccer team is going into the Region 15 playoffs strong with a three game winning streak on Tuesday, Oct. 8 winning 2-1 against South Summit, Thursday, Oct. 10 scoring 3-2 against North Sevier and Friday, Oct. 11 winning 2-1 against Gunnison.

“We’ve had a good stretch,” said Devils Head Coach Mike Camps. “We couldn’t ask for better heading into playoffs.” Tuesday’s home game pitted the Lady Devils against the South Summit Lady Wildcats. The final score was 2-1. GCHS junior and team maptain Caitlin Pfnister thinks that the game was a good win for the Devils. “We came out and decided that we wanted to play for the love of the game and not just for the win. There was a great turnout after that. The girls started to play better and pushed aside everything else just to play soccer,” Pfnister said.

Thursday’s game was in Salina against North Sevier, the final game score rounding out to 3-2. Though the team had an injured player, they pushed forward for the win. Friday was an unusual third weekly game. The Devils played Gunnison on the home field, earning a score of 2-1. “We started to really capitalize on our opportunities,” said Pfnister.

The team’s wins throughout the week scheduled them to play Maeser Preparatory Academy on the GCHS home field on Wednesday, October 16 as their first playoff round. The team narrowly lost to Maeser in 2013 2-3 and is looking to take home a win on Wednesday.
