Hurting the innocent…

I’m as mad as everyone else about the incompetence that led to the fiscal mess in the school system. And the idea that the same people who allowed it to happen now propose to put their hand in my pocket yet again really galls me.

But I also think we have to be clear-headed about what it means to punish the school board with a No vote on this leeway vote.

It’s the teachers, not the board, who will take the hit. They already have taken a big hit in pay and a No vote will mean, apparently, that 20-25 will lose their jobs. They are not to blame for this mess. But they will pay the price.

Like so often in this world, you go after the bad guys and the innocent get hurt. I understand all the reasons why to vote No and haven’t made up my mind.

But if I vote No, I will do so in full knowledge that I will be make a lot of people unemployed in our community at a very bad time.

Again....hold those who "lost" the monies in the first place accountable! Cut the overhead costs by cutting administration jobs first! Down size the district staff till we get back on our feet. Hundreds of thousands of dollars could be saved by just doing this alone!! Don't throw more taxpayer monies at these same people to "lose" or misappropiate!! Send a clear message that fiscal irresponsibity will NOT be tolerated! NO BAILOUT for the GCSD burocracy at taxpayer expense!!!!!
