Hit and run is a crime...
To the young, dark-haired (shoulder-length) woman in a grey vehicle who struck my daughter on her bike at 3 p.m. last Thursday, May 1 while coming out of City Market’s parking lot, and then drove off without seeing if she was OK: You were fully aware of what you did. You mouthed, “I’m sorry,” to her companion, and then you gunned it. She had to go to the ER and the bike was wrecked under your front tire. She is OK, fortunately. You owe her a new bike.
This is a wake-up call to all young drivers: we live in a bicycle community. When you are turning right or left, look both ways, several times. If you kill or maim someone, it will change your life forever.
And if you hit and run, you will never escape the shame and horror of it.
