As you know, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was designed as a market-based solution with the idea of an individual mandate being popularized by the Heritage Foundation and other conservative think tanks as early as 1989. So you must understand my, and many others of your constituents’ puzzlement at your ongoing obstruction to this law, because the basic principles of Heritagecare and Obamacare are the same.
While you have been outspoken in your aggressive opposition to the Affordable Care Act, you have not offered or proposed anything to help America fix our broken health care system, which is among the most expensive and most exclusive in the developed world.
I would agree that the rollout of the ACA was a botched disaster. But since you are not inclined to help and are insistent on repeal, let’s fix the rest of the ACA law by using a government program that is proven to work.
We should open up Medicare to anyone who wants it, and can pay for it.
I support Congressman Alan Grayson’s four-page bill, the Medicare You Can Buy Into Act (H.R. 500). Private health insurers aren’t the answer. A public option is.
Please stop the obstructive opposition to fixing our broken health care system and get on board with helping all Americans get insured and lowering costs to reasonable levels.
