Ethel Lucille Musgrave Jochims passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 in Bountiful, Utah. Ethel was born January 5, 1933 in Wayne Township Ohio to David Sylvester Musgrave and Anita Susan Klinesmith Musgrave. Ethel was raised during the Great Depression on a family farm just outside of Bloomingdale, Ohio, with six sisters and one brother (Francis, James, Anita, Mary, Esther, Eunice, and Lois). 

She married William Lewis Dunlap on Sept. 26, 1956 in Liberty, Ind. Ethel and William had six children: Mary Kay, William David, Robert Lee, Susan Lucille, (Baby Boy Dunlap) and Rachel Elizabeth. They lived in many locations during a military career, including overseas posts in Tokyo, Japan and Plasir, France. Ethel served her country by supporting her husband and family bravely during William’s tour of duty in the Vietnam War. Ethel and William divorced in July of 1980.

Ethel married the man she described as the “love of her life” on Aug. 23, 1980, Loren Ardell Roberts, in Elko, Nev. Ethel had one child at home – her youngest daughter – and Loren adopted her daughter to love and care for as his own child. They shared 14 loving years together until Loren preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 1994.

Ethel met and fell in love with Carl Richard Jochims and they were wed on March 21, 1995 in Las Vegas, Nev. Ethel and Carl made their home in Moab, Utah, in March of 2002. Carl was a World War II veteran and a retired letter carrier from Long Beach, Calif. Carl suffered from Alzheimer’s disease in his later life, and Ethel was Carl’s sole caregiver at their home until his death on Dec. 16, 2006 in Moab, Utah.

Ethel was very proud of her children and grandchildren and talked about them often. Ethel loved living in Moab and her time in Moab was the longest she had lived in one location since she was a child. Ethel had an indomitable spirit, was undaunted by any challenge and seemed to have an endless supply of energy and determination. She was a very giving person who was always willing to help anyone in need. Ethel was a Silver Bowl recipient for her volunteer work in Moab.

Ethel is survived by her children: Mary Kay Keller of Tallahassee, Fla., mother of Mistie, Michael and James; William (Denise) Dunlap of Canyonville, Ore., parents of Jesse and David; Robert (Valerie) Dunlap of Canyonville, Ore., father of Bobbie, Dawn and Joshua; Susan (Dale) Weese of Perry, Utah, mother of Shanna, Deidre and Patrick; Rachel (Dan) Stenta of Moab, Utah, mother of Evan and Isaac Ellison. Ethel was proud to be a great-grandmother to 10 great-grandchildren and aunt to 24 nieces and nephews.
