Dave was born May 19, 1946, in Spokane, Wash., to David Joseph Beattie Sr. and Agnes Florence Schook Beattie. When he was a child his family moved to Laurel, Mont., where he went to school. He joined the Job Corp and they moved him to Price, Utah.
While in Price he met the love of his life, Katherine Lee Schocknmyer. They were married May 27, 1967, in Dragerton, Utah. In October of 1968 Dave and Kathy moved to Moab to work for Texas Gulf. In 1974, he started working for Jebco Construction and later Mega Blue, and his last job was as the maintenance man at the Gravel Pit Lanes, until he retired.
Dave enjoyed hunting, bowling, working with hawks and fishing, which was his last big joy. He was also a member of the Interact Club.
Dave is survived by his wife, Kathy of 46 years; a son, Emil and a daughter, Carol both of Moab; five sisters: Theresa (Bob) Stene, Lynn (David) Steiner, Darllene Rehling, Romona Craidhill, and Louella Jo (Less) Frank; four grandchildren and three and a half great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Alice Teeten; sister-in-law, Margaret Jean “Jeannie” Duncan; and two brothers-in-law, Bobbie and Eddie Schocknmyer.
A viewing was held on Wednesday, Sept. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Spanish Valley Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Moab First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
